Name: Gordon Keeling
City/Country: England
Comments: This is a masterpiece of historical information and I congratulate you on your efforts. My reason for locating the site was to prepare for a visit to Arnhem and Rhenen where Gunner Maurice Alfred Keeling, our brother, is buried. We are searching for any contact of those who tend the graves. Maurice rests in a churchyard in Rhenen, along with only a handful of others unfortunate to be downstream and so far away from their comrades. We would like to thank the people in Rhenen when we visit in February. Is it possible to be put in touch with any persons involved? Joyce Gornall (she's our big sister) Olive Savage (our little sister) and me the baby of the family.

Name: Catrinus Wallet
City/Country: Portland, OR USA
Comments: My father (also Catrinus) was a young man growing up in Lunteren near Arnhem. He has very strong memories of the battles and especially of the valiant Polish units. We emigrated to America in 1960. If it wasn't for my father's memory, I don't think I ever would have heard of the battle of Arnhem because it simply isn't to be found in any American history textbooks, or if it is in a textbook it is presented in a very inaccurate way (favoring Monty's "90% successful" description). There is a LOT written about D Day and virtually nothing on OMG. This site will go a LONG way to helping educate americans about what happened at Arnhem. Thanks, and well done.

Name: Henk Boluijt
City/Country: Netherlands
Comments: Interesting site. Impressive things happened round Arnhem. Also around Nijmegen, Best, Uden and Neerpelt, but I realise it's impossible to mention everything. There's also a museum in Groesbeek, 'Bevrijdingsmuseum'. I don't know if that's a good museum. Hartenstein is of course very good, both for people who've never heard about Market Garden, but also for them who know very much about it. Also interesting is the Airborne Walking every year round the 17 september. I hope this site can continue.

Have been to Arnhem, walked the sites, visited the fascinating museum, read the books where he is mentioned (Middlebrook and others) but would love to hear from anyone who might have met him.

He was wounded by a bayonet through his left hand and captured. He rarely spoke about his experiences so I know little about his time at Arnhem. I run an Air Cadet unit and we visit Arnhem each year for the Wondeltoch March each September. See you there in 2003!

Comments: Congratulations on your wonderful website dedicated to Operation Market Garden. My father survived thankfully, but he lost so many good friends during this time. He doesn't speak alot about his war experiences because it brings back so many sad memories for him. But always at this time of the year his thoughts go back to Arnhem. Does anybody remember serving with my father, Rifleman Raymond Davies, 1st Battalion Royal Ulster Rifles,1st+6th Airbourne Division. He comes from Rochdale, Lancs.

My grandfather fought in Arnhem though he died before I was born so I never knew him but I think its vital that the grandchildren of those involved learn about what they grandfathers went through to appreciate the liberty we have today and are guilty of taking for granted. Comments: What a wonderful website. My late father, Captain Edward Eric (Butch) Clapham MC was a paratrooper in the 1st airborne. I understand the glider he was in 'hit' the bridge on attempting to land. Some days later he was shot in the leg and consequently became a POW. He would love this site were he alive today. How I wish I had more of his information on this battle. Some however is documented, I must send this to the author. Thank you Andries. I will visit this site often.

It was a great experience for both my men and I. Being there on-site really brought out the meaning and the spirit of being a Paratrooper.....not only in "America's Guard of Honor", The Mighty 82nd Airborne Division, but also being part of an world-wide Elite Organization, a Band of Brothers..... A Paratrooper. Thanks for bringing this site into those hearts and minds that cannot make the trip. Excellent Site. "RANGERS LEAD THE WAY" "AIRBORNE, ALL THE WAY"  HOOAH!

Comments: a great site to view but i would urge anyone with a genuine interest in the operation to visit the lovely town of arnhem. I first visited 2 years ago to pay a pilgramige, (my grans cousin was with 7KOSB at oosterbeek and my grandfather was with the R.A.F and was there in '45,he tells me the locals were very wary at first because he and his comrades were in RAF blue very similar to luftwaffe field uniform!)any info regarding Peter Bird late of 7 KOSB would be greatly appretiated.as i say arnhem and surrounding areas are lovely and the people are so warm and friendly i would say just go and find out for yourself i did and i have been back 5 times so far. Bedankt en tot zeins, Kai.

Comments: I had the privelage of visiting Arnhem and Oosterbeek with my father in law (Reg Warrener, 1st. Para.) who fought and was captured there. To walk the area with a veteran and hear some of the stories of the heroic fighting that took place there just literally made the hair at the back of my neck tingle. Thanks for a great web site it does justice to all the brave people who fought and died there.

Comments: I wrote about Market Garden (especially the battle for Arnhem/Oosterbeek) for my University Dissertation a few years ago. I am now attempting to write in more detail and have read most of the major books written on the subject, I have however had problems locating these books -A Drop too Many, Frost; Return Ticket, Deane-Drummond and I was a Stranger, Hackett. Could anyone out there help me with my search for these? Excellent website..keep up the good work!
