| Personal Notes: |
Capt. Louis volunteered to cross from the south side of the Rhine to the besieged troops in Oosterbeek by assault boat with his CO under a Red Cross flag. Was captured then released to return to south bank. That night he returned with the 4th Dorsets in an attack to get more supplies through.
There is evidence that Capt. Louis drowned trying to swim the Rhine during the night crossing (24/25 Sept.) back for more medical supplies.
